I failed

I am really proud of our courage and what we have achieved.

Seeing how popular our bottlings are and how they sell out within a very short time makes me very proud.

But unfortunately, not everything we do works.

One project in which I massively miscalculated is the barrel language.

And this with my passion project of all things… What a load of shit.

Although I received very positive feedback at the time, I had planned for significantly more sales.

What many people don’t know:
In 2018, I already drove the company into the ground and almost went bankrupt.

But I am the definition of a resilient person:

I do not accept defeat.

It doesn't go into my head.
So I just kept going and got the car out of the mud.

Together with my brothers Florian & Adrien, we've built a strong foundation. We've truly learned from our past mistakes.

I am very proud of the strength of our small company, which meant that my miscalculation of the Fasssprache project did not destroy us and we were able to “simply” carry on.

The idea was to explore the influence each wood type had on the spirit. So I had 15 different barrels built from every wood type I could legally purchase—from walnut to chestnut to pear.

Then I let the same base rum mature in it for exactly the same amount of time. I'll taste the stuff with you via video with master cooper Markus Eder, while we show you everything about barrel making and talk about the chemical properties of the wood, etc.

So it's a really entertaining course with a depth of knowledge about barrel aging that is unique in the world.

Despite all the added value:
This is the only project of Wagemut in recent years that didn't work out – and now it's standing in my way:
