Acacia barrels do not stain as strongly as oak barrels or mulberry barrels, for example. They give off hardly any cis-lactones and are therefore used for the production of single-variety fruit brandies and elegant pomace brandies. The acacia wood, correctly called robinia wood, comes from the Palatinate Forest and is wild growth.
